i remember a long time ago there was an update that sayed if you get 800 posts than you can change your char name once. is that update still available? and on what forum was that for? this one or the gpotato forum?

Yes once you hit Premium user (800 posts) PM an Admin (Tor is MIA, so Reiko or Tenko) and provide a reason of why you want your name changed, and the name you want, and they'll probably do it for you.

Getting 800 posts means you can change your forum username, not your character's name in-game. >_>
