Now I thought this might be an interesting topic.

Basically, to sum up the article.

Corporations who have blogs online, delete content that they don't like, whether its illegal, or just someone speaking out against the company, should the federal government step in, to stop this type of behavior?

Also, while thinking more in depth about this, in flyff, you are not allowed to promote other peoples games, and your speech is censored on what you can say.

Is this against the law? or in your opinion do corporations and online games have the right to censor their player/bloggers.

And I am not just referring to swear words, but to general free speech.

In my opinion, they shouldnt allow someone censorship, such as flamers/harassment.....ect

But the level headed person who just wants to state their case in a cool and calm manner, would get censored just on the pure fact it makes the company look bad.

As bad as this sounds Im all for censorship. I dont think people should be allowed to say whatever they want whenever they want.

If it's the corporation's/companies' blog/site, then it's their right to do what they want. I'm pretty sure that would be considered their "property." If it's a third party site/blog then they can fuck off.

Yes. Freedom of speech applies only to public areas, it's long been established that private companies and institutions have the right to restrict speech in their perview. Also, hateful/libelous/conspiracy-promoting speech has long been illegal.

Basically, the internet is a great deal of private areas, and thus do not fall under the First Amendment. It would be like claiming free speech rights when you run around Circuit City screaming about how much they suck, and how much better Radio Shack is. Standing near the store, without the intent or implied intent to drive away business for no reason, you'd be okay, as long as you were on public property. Doing it inside the store or in the hallway, you're harassing customers and the store, and that trumps, in about 99.9% of cases, your right to free speech.

So, no, there is no free speech on the internet, except where those who own the private servers/domains are willing to let anything go, and I'm sure even there, it's not 100% free.
