Will an item break if I upgrade it to +3? Does this also apply to elementing as well?

Such a shame that the 200k pd4's of yesterday are now the 2m sunstones of today.

Up to +3 your safe. This applies to everything, armor weapons jewlery, elementing, etc. After which you need a scroll of something protect, except for collectors, which don't break.

on mushpoie suns still sell 1.6-1.7m ea, its hard to find a seller for less than 1.6 and hard to find a buyer for more than 1.7

I've had and upgrade fail going from +1 to +2, but the item didn't break.

+1 never fails
+2 never fails
+3 can fail, but wont break, and if u have bad luck, you willl fail at least 2 times.
