if i try and make my steel knuckle to +1 is there a chance it could brake or something? or is it 100% successful?

+1 to +3 you're basically guaranteed it won't break. However there are people that have had HORRIBLE luck and had it break when going from +2 to +3. So it's not 100%...

from 0 to +3 i don't think it will break, it could failed though so you only lose the pd.

+1,+2, and +3 are like free upgrades, will it fail sometimes when you go to upgrades from +0 to +3? Yes. Will it ever break from +0 to +3? No, never.

Going from +3 to +10 there are increaseing chances that the weapon or clothes may break if they fail.

No, that's not true. The really unfortunate people have had their items broke going from +0 to +3(any upgrades up til the safe point). The thing is, that chance is so small, you're almost guaranteed your item won't disappear even if it failed. The chance is like .0001% of breaking, when trying from +0 til +3.
