Sorry if it's been asked, but I can't find the answer to this.

Does wand damage matter?

no, wand damge doesn't make much diffrence, lets just say 100-200 less HP a wand takes of an enemy than what a staff does, depending on what level you are, and thats just an example from NPC wands, you can find some nice wand drops that might do more damage than staff, but overall, staff does better damage, and at least with wand you can get a shield, which adds to your defence.

so really you have to make a choice, either defence or attack, i use Staff

Oh I don't mean wand vs staff damage.

Wand has a listed damage, say one wand has a listed damage of 80-85 and another has a listed damage of 140-145 (made up numbers).

Using the same spell with the same level, it shouldn't make a difference in the damage dealt to a monster whichever wand is equipped right? Since mages don't whack a monster with their wands?

It will make a difference, because attack rate is used in calculating spell damage as far as I know. On my mage though, it doesn't make too much of a difference.

Base spell damage is first figured by the weapon you are using. Then followed by spell level and Int, then finally the level of the mob.

So yes the wand does still factor into how much damage you deal with your spells.
