Wow, i'm so lucky earthquakes are uncommon in the Uk.
The only two that i know of happened when i was asleep, when i sleep i'm out like a rock, only my family felt the small shakes.

But damn.. Earthquakes right after a cyclone.. A sign maybe the end of thw world may be soon.

what exactly do you picture "end of the world" to be? cos compared to the size and age of earth, a cyclone and an earthquake are just minor occurences...

Holy..I had no idea this earthquake was so bad. I head a little about it and thought it was minor...
In proportion to Katrina, about how much worse is this? =\

id say this is way worse. a hurricane isnt as lethal. most people lose their homes after a hurricane. but most people lose their life after an earthquake.

of course, a hurricane is still bad. and if met with catastrophic crisis management like in myanmar, it can be quite devastating.

To be honest, I might rather die than go through what half the people who lost their homes did.

About 200 relief workers died due to mudslides. I hate that good people who are giving their time, putting forth their best effort to save the unfortunate people had to die like that. With every story I read, my heart hurts =/

There was a story of a man who was trapped under rubble. He was given a cell phone so he could call his wife. They later freed him, but shortly died =/

I hate these stories, but I can't pull myself to not read them =/

It happened all over China.

Also, May 19th to 21th (Beijing Time) have been designated by China as the "mourning period" to remember and mourn the people who fell victim to the quake.

Nationwide, all public entertainments are canceled, and the Olympic flame relay is put on hold for 3 days.

What amazes me even more, is the fact that the entire Chinese online communities are in mourning as well. All the major websites in China, including search engines, news sites, public forums, video/image hosting sites, and even P2P fileshare sites have switched to black/white mourning themes.

And literally all the MMO games hosted in China will be offline for 3 days as well in remembrance of the victims, including all games hosted by 163.com (notably cFlyff), 9th City (World of Warcraft, Ganada Espada), Lineage 2, Perfect World Online, and countless others.

It's very touching to see the more compassionate side of the Internet.

To recognise the effect of this disaster, to remember those who have perished and to give a sign of respect for all those helping; generally for the whole even, people have started to place rainbows at the start of their names on msn.
