One of the things I still ask myself though is...

I have a hard time believing that it's ONLY the European and Middle East corners of the world who regularly had such a level of greed. I mean, it CAN happen, but then what is it in THESE cultures that gave the people the idea of expanding for money purposes, that wasn't so often present in Africa, the Americas, and Asia??

It just doesn't make sense to me that one group of races/cultures could be so naturally greedy, whereas another culture, even after plenty of exposure to this greedy attitude, doesn't become outrageously greedy, too.

So that's why I'm still asking myself, what is it about the Middle East and European cultures that drove them to expand, or if we go with your theory, that made them so greedy?
I think it just comes down to history and resources. African tribes in the Sahara couldn't really think about international expansion when they had to worry about where they were going to get their next source of water.

I'd say everyone is equally greedy, its just whoever has the means to act on that greed who expands in the end. Europeans just got lucky when it came to resources, quickly found that expansion was very good for trade, and started spreading as much as they could.
