Collectors = waste of money. You pay 1mil for some little device, then you have to blow money on the batteries. I hear that it takes forever to collect 10 of one piece for something.
Really... this event seems to be useless. I would only get a collector to get a riding cloud, not for this silly little idea.

Not as bad as you think really, I'm getting 5-6 soul's per hour and I've already got a full ocean cards and countless other cards. It just takes a bit of afking

u couldn't be further from the truth
this event is fail, but because its too EASY for afkers to make money
i got 50 souls in 3 1/2 hrs- crazy ppl just bought them for 400k each when i wasnt even expecting them to sell
thats basically 6m per hour for doing absolutely nothing but staying connected
edit: now im off to sleep, hopefully when i wake up i'll be another 50m richer

As said before, this is SOOO wrong.
I was an 8x AoE int-BP, frustrated with an inability to giant hunt and hating my weak asal. So I sold my two plug +9's, upgraded a collector to +5 and bought a gold battery. It was about 60m initial investment. I spent all my money on a gamble that this would pay off. On day 1 of collecting I had no penya.
Day 5 collecting- Bought a restat for 130m
Day 7 collecting- Ivilness knuck +7+5 water for 45m
Day 10 collecting- Bought a reskill for 160m
Day 12 collecting- Bought 1 mighteer for 18m
Those are just the big purchases. I've spent probably an additional 50m on various awakened items and such. So for my 60m investment, in 12 days of collecting (about 15-20 hours a day afk) I have made well over 350m penya. And that number is going up, especially now with the event. They are selling like hot cakes even at 500k each. At 500k they sell immediately, so I'm thinking the price could be even higher. I'll easily make 50m+ between now and the end of today.
To see someone call this a "waste of time" just means you haven't done it yet. It has brought me from destitute poverty into large amounts of money. Everyone I speak to agree it pays for itself in a few days. In demian, cloud pieces sell for 6-8m, lightning pieces 10m, volcano pieces 5m. I've gotten dozens of cloud pieces, a couple lightning pieces, and a few volcanos. All that adds up, plus the tons of rubies and topazes you get, plus the occasional sapphire, diamond, and emerald.
But you really all should ignore this. More collectors will just mean prices go down and we all make less profit. This event will probably spur major interest in collecting, so many of the usual items will become prolific in the economy.

Just wondering, in your opinion, does the location of the collecting (Flaris, SM, or Darkon) affect what kinds of items are collected? I've only ever collected in Darkon and I have never gotten an emerald, magma, volcano, moutain, or earthquake piece. Also, would you suggest just buying the collector+5 pre-upgraded or try to upgrade it myself by buying some moonstones?
Your post has inspired me and gotten me interested in collecting once again, but this time actually doing it efficiently (I was using a collector+0 and store-bought batteries before). I'm thinking that my electric bill is going to suck, so hopefully my mom doesn't realize that my comp is going to be on for a very long time...
Oh, and that reminds me, does anybody know how to turn off the automatic updates that AVG Anti-virus does? I ask this because it pops up every morning around 9AM or so and crashes my Flyff game, which is why I cannot leave on a day-time store. Any help would be appreciated.
Now on to the event topic: I think that this event is good for people like me who have lots of school-stuff to do and cannot dedicate much time to sitting down and grinding. Just buying batteries and walking over to the computer every 30 minutes to put in a new battery isn't much of a hassle considering the fact that you are doing no work whatsoever. So for this event, I'll have half of the necessary items (the soul parts), and I might just sell them off or buy some of those seeds and try my luck in the future.
Also, does anybody know what the Firework box does or if these boxes that we open (Green boxes)are permanent or do they disappear after the event is over?

I don't think the location matters. I do most of it at darkon, but have spent a night or two in both flaris and SM.
I'm not sure if its better to buy +5 premade or make it yourself. It depends on the price of the collector. If you can find one for cheap, do it, but I think it took me about 40 moons.
And I am absolutely loving this event. Souls are still selling strong for 500k each.
Forget collecting. I don't care about the souls. Seeds are so common, and all i hafta do is fight stuff, which levels me up. Collecting for afk, killing all the time else. I don't care about what ever the green box has. This event is the win because everyone is spending ridiculous amounts of money on it.

read my earlier post
lets say u pay 50m for a gold battery, 30m for a +5 collector
collect for 1 nite and u get around 100 souls... sell them for 500k each, and thats already 50m recovered in 1 nite (edit: plus any pieces u might get also from collecting)
Do you all think the price of souls will go down as the event progresses? Right now I can sell them pretty consistently at 450k, especially right in front of the event NPC. Are these high prices just a bubble of artificially high demand created by hordes of players who are rushing to boxes in hopes of riches, only to find out that the success rates suck? Do you think demand will go down enough as the event goes on to force prices lower?
@Jaina: Yes huge amounts of money. Everyone's buying all these seeds and souls, they're spending it so frivilously. I feel like an evil, sadistic merchant who's striking filthy rich because of a carnival.
