I'm a magician, level 52. I lost 20% of dying today, and I'm sick of it. I tried to hunt Nutty Wheels, but they are too strong. Now I'm hunting SteelKnights, but levelling is painfully slow.. What must I do?

It will probably be best to grab a fs and a contri and start small drills. Nutty i think does 2 hit so you will take more damage then normal

You can only fight steel knights at level 52? 3 levels above you? There must be something wrong, before level 60 you should be fighting atleast 7 levels up from you, even without an FS o_O Have you messed up your stats or got extremely bad armor on?

@ rare: agreeded...i was fighting cards at lvl 35..which is like 6 or soemthing lvl above me...

so yea...hunt small drills...get practice so u can kill 20 quickly while doin the quest

At level 52 on my BP I was fighting volts x] Lol, same on my Ranger.

But, your BP could buff itself, and I'm guessing your ranger had buffs too. Even at that low level, 10-11 levels difference is a bit too much with no buffs. And 11 lvls higher is too high for leveling anyway. >_> You should really only do 7-9 above you, for efficient leveling or adjust based on spawns. At the OP's level, 11 levels higher would do nearly half his HP per hit, and nearly OHKO him on a crit.

As for you Elassar, I can understand you. Mage armor has some of the lowest DEF, and Mages get like the lowest DEF/HP per STA. You must only have like 1.5-2.5k HP (not sure what your build is). So it's pretty understandable why you can't kill higher things. Just try to find an FS, and as long as you kill things fast (if you're high INT), then the low level difference shouldn't be too much of a problem and you'd find yourself leveling faster than other people at even Drillers, if you can kill them fast enough.

So if you find an FS and a full contri party, you'll find yourself leveling 3x faster.

Volts are level 61, thats 9 levels.

Lol my Merc at lvl 52 was killing spider elder lvl 63- small crane lvl 67 Then again i have my Gsword and Rm buffs

Killing max 5 lvls higher is better because you kill fast and it end with a better xp outcome and also you get more drops if you're closer to the monster lvl too.

I remember the best level gap as a mage was... 7 levels.

Well either you suck. You're stats may suck. Or You're eq.

I got a level 55 mage, ( wanted to be a ele but got bored and quit =/ And wrist killed from mashing hotkeys O.o )

Well if this is you're first character i'd advise u go assist. and become a BP ( Good money makers )

Well anyways, At 50 i started killing normal drillers till 54, Then moved to volts/Elders ( Awesome exp per hour )

Try maxing you're skills? Rock Crush, Fire Strike , The level 30 Wind skill ( cant remember name ) and some other lvl 30 skills, Max them., and you'll do best :P

as for eq.., I used NPC sets, You dont need greens really., Maybe a green weapon. But try and get a STICK OF VAL PARPEN ( I think its called ;x )
