Darn. I updated it anyway, and was disappointed when my 20 character replacement was too long. But 12 characters still ain't bad:
If I'm doing my math right (probably not, but feel free to LOL as needed), that program would have to search through 26 capital letters, 26 lowercase letters, and 10 numbers for each character in the password. So that's 62 choices for each character with a maximum of 12 characters in each password. Thus there's an impressive 62^12 different combinations, or 839,299,365,868,340,224 combinations. Assuming you have a truly random combination of 12 characters, you're probably safe.
The thing with symbols is that not only do those add more possible choices, but they're often the last things the brute force hackers use...most likely because people usually don't use those in their passwords.
