Default RM Guide [Incomplete]

RMs, the ultimate buffers/ressers, but what do you need in order to become one?
1. A lot of patience, you're not going to party with the greatest people all the time, and you are not the greatest soloer of all times (Blades take the cake on that one :P)

2. Be nice, or at least TRY, like I said above people can be a-holes, but there's really rotect NOTHING you can do about it

3. Be the best you can be, you're going to do a lot of button mashing, and you need to be dedicated to play this class, because it works both ways, you depend on them they depend on you and let no one tell you different

4. Be proud be support, something taken from an icon floating around in the forums. I understand it gets tiring to support, but that doesn't mean you should quit being an FS and go battle, just because you're FS doesn't mean you can't fight totally take it from me.

I. Skills

Assist:

Heal (Req: Lv. 15) - The most important skill of an Assist, you will most likely never use ANY other skill more than this one, as for training it... it'll be a synch since you use it so often

Patience (Req: Lv. 18, Heal 3) - One of your first buffs, this skill gives you a certain amount of HP every time you buff with it, most people will tell you this skill stinks, but in all reality a little goes a long way in this game, train it as it will go well with another buff you get later on.

Ressurection (Req: Lv. 20, Patience 4) - Important skill, it allows you to revive a dead character. Unfortunately this skill's pretty difficult to train, and the places you can train it and methods are pretty limited right now, so just get it to 4 as quickly as possible and leave it or train it more, your choice.

Circle Healing (Req: Lv. 25, Ressurection 4) - An area version of heal, much weaker than the main skill though, and it's a BIG Pxp Eater, train it and fast, get it to 4 and leave it until later since it will not come in very useful at all in fact if you do train this skill it's just to reskill it to another.

Prevention (Req: Lv. 30, Circle Healing 4) - Recovers your HP on the brink of death. This one is definitely useful, but not now later, this is a prereq skill to unlock an RM skill so Leave it at 4 and train it later as it will come in pretty handy.

Quick Step (Req: Lv. 20, Heal 3) - Increases movement speed, which is useful for escaping aggro monsters, although in general it serves no other use in battle except for getting to a monster faster.

Haste (Req: Lv. 25, QuickStep 3) - Increases Atk Speed, everyone loves this buff, it makes you attack much quicker and it makes a difference in killing speed, Blades, Jesters, you name it all the melee classes want it, so definitely something to train.. and it has a nice timer so even with no int it lasts a while.

Cat's Reflex (Req: Lv. 28, Haste 4) - Increases Blockrate of a character... correct me if I'm wrong but until just recently this skill didn't seem to work. Since it does NOW though, train it, it's great for high dex chars and yourself, you never know when that block may just spare your life or make Prevention kick in.

CannonBall (Req: Lv. 35, Cat's Reflex 4) - Adds on to your Dex, another buff to train, it stacks with Cat's Reflex and Haste (if it's mastered). Most high-dex builds need this buff to hit their ASPD breaks so train it well.

Mental Sign (Req: Lv. 18 Heal 3) - This buff is ESPECIALLY useful to yourself.. Why? It gives you a bigger MP pool AND it adds on to your timers.. a few seconds makes a difference, not only that but More INT means more healing as well.

HeapUp (Req: Lv. 20 Mental Sign 4) - Useful to everyone, ALL the classes ask for it, why? It adds that all Important Stat of STA which AoE builds need, and it gives that HP and FP, PLUS it stacks with a buff you got earlier... PATIENCE. So train it well.

BeefUp (Req: Lv. 25, HeapUp 4) - Important for Melee classes, especially the Merc 2nd Jobs. But other classes use it too, like Jesters and Billposters, and since a lot of classes base on STR for damage, train this skill well.

Accuracy (Req: Lv. 30, BeefUp 4) - Useless? Not exactly, this skill stacks with Dex, it increases how many times you hit an opponent, which works well when you're going up against monsters with a big level difference, you tend to miss a lot against them and this skill helps.

Other Skills:

Tamping Hole (Req: Lv. 20, Heal 3) - It's a powerful punching attack, you most likely will not be using this, although it is funny to watch an RM boredly beating stuff up later on with this, but chances are it's only gonna be level 1, of if you want your whole Assist tree lit up level it, but like I said, to an RM... useless.

Stonehand (Req: Lv. 25, Tamping Hole 4) - Another battle still, again useless to an RM if you're going, but if you're bored definitely fun to watch yourself stunlock a random low-level monster and have some newbies gawking at you for doing it. Then again, if you have these skills at a high level... should you even be reading this? :P

Burst Crack (Req: Lv. 28, Stonehand 4) - Huzzah! The Assist AoE, you can definitely have some fun with this skill during the 30-50s to level yourself, all you need is a good amount of food some plugs and some good armor and you can pose as an AoE Assist, just don't overdo it, remember you're support not a tank, but if you have some STA (40-50 recommended to even try it) then why not, have fun, but other than that Useless if you're pure FS.

Power Fist (Req: Lv. 35, Burst Crack 4) - A higher level version of Tamping Hole, if you have your whole Assist tree lit up then you should just leave this at a low level, although if you're reading this and getting it to Req, chances are you may be changing your mind about RM (>_> GO FIND A BP GUIDE D

II. Armor/EQs

Preferred Armor, EQs and Accessories:
Wedge/Flury Gauntlets +3 or more
Wedge/Flury Boots +3 or more
Wedge/Flury Suit +3 or more
Wedge/Flury Helmet +3 or more
Stick of Roritoren +0 or more
2 PlugEarring+2 or more
2 IntellRing+1 or more
Mental OR GoreNecklace +1 or more

The above Armor set up is the set up 99.5% of the RMs follow for the rest of their lives pretty much, why? The above set up is great for skill spamming and general training, although you might miss out on the defense bonuses the other suits give, that's a small price to pay when you want to skill-train, this set will maintain you for a VERY long time. Here are the bonuses you get with the pieces:

2/4: Defense +19, INT +7
3/4: Defense +38, INT +7, MP Consumption -20%, FP Consumption -20%
4/4: Defense +38, INT +7, MP Consumption -20%, FP Consumption -20%, Increase Casting Speed +30%

I jumped directly into this set because quite frankly until you get this set, you're better off switching between dropped set pieces or buying the NPC pieces, it saves you money (believe me the 15 and 30 sets aren't cheap and this one DEFINITELY isn't cheap [Both Suits are 30mil+ clean as of what I have seen]). As for the 60 set, definitely better if you skip it, although the HP bonus is great you need the casting motion more because of the fact that your build is high demand in-game and the decreased motion speed means faster buff training and faster training in general.

III. Skills (Pt. 2)

Note: All skills on this tree master at 10 unlike the Assist skills which master at 20. It's also nice to note that these skills ALSO have lower base timers than the Assist ones.

Protect (Req: Lv. 60, HeapUp 6) - This skill raises defense 5 added for every level, gives +50 Defesense maxed, it's pretty useful and 50 defense added's a pretty good difference for you, especially if your build lacks STA, this skill COULD have been a little better IMO though.. but that's just me talking now.

Holycross (Req: Lv. 60) - This skill is a lot like Lex Aeterna from RO, it forces the target to take double damage, the only downside is it's only for 1 hit, after that you need to recast it, it's the only RM skill with no Prereq. Is it useful? Quite, some fighters prefer this over some buffs you get later believe it or not, and some want both, as for you? This makes your AoE which you get later hit a LOT harder.

Gvur Tialla (Req: Lv. 60, Prevention 4) - Rather useless skill right now, it seems to be broken (like many other skills in this game D. If you know what Esuna from Final Fantasy does, then that's what, if you don't: It heals any negative status you have on you at the time. Max it though since you need it maxed to unlock a later skill.

Holyguard (Req: Lv. 65, Protect 3) - The magical version of Protect, it adds the same amount as protect too (go figure!). As of this moment though, this buff is pretty useless since... no monsters in-game use actual magic to fight, although it could probably be helpful in PvP.. ._.;

Spiriture Fortune (Req: Lv. 65, Holycross 1) - One of the best buffs you get, TECHNICALLY it doesn't have a Prereq since the skill you need is maxed when you get it.. but anyway, It gives a huge Attack boost, which is useful to any melee fighter, although the timer is a big disappointment.

Heal Rain (Req: Lv. 70, Gvur Tialla 3) - A pumped up version of Circle Healing, definitely more useful than it's low-level counterpart even though it casts slower, and if you didn't max Gvur Tialla, I bet you're regretting it now aren't ya :P

Geburah Tiphreth (Req: Lv. 75, Holyguard 4, Spiriture Fortune 7) - Undoubtedly the best buff you get, EVERYONE asks you for this, and most of the high levels out there want a 75+ RM simply because of this buff. Not only does it boost Attack, but it boosts your attack speed as well, and with a good haste a high-dex fighter will probably hit 100% attack speed! Great buff huh? Only downside is the timer is low... VERY low.

Merkaba Hanzelrusha (Req: Lv. 80, Heal Rain 4) - Huzzah! The RM AoE, the ONLY attack skill we get as RMs (*sob*). The damage is based on INT and the Attack Rate of your Stick, and very LITTLE damage also comes from STR (not recommended you add though). Buffing with Spriture and GT will boost damage by 100 Each (might be a little more for GT).

"Hey I can't use some skills!"

That's because you're missing an important item to cast them: POSTERS

"So which do I buy?"

Yours are the bless posters, the other ones are for Billposters

"How many do I need to cast?"

1 per cast for each skill

IV. Different Builds for an FS RM

Build 1 (The Pure INT Build):

STR: 15
STA: 15
DEX: 15
INT: XX

Build 2 (Full-INT): <--- Sometimes confused with a hybrid

STR: 15
STA: 30-50
DEX: 15
INT: XX

Build 3 (AoE):

STR: 15
STA: 100-110
DEX: 15
INT: 50-60
(May vary according to preference for AoEing)

Build 1: This build is followed by a lot of RMs, prepare to get 1-shotted a lot though, this build lacks STA and depends on HeapUp for survival, it's also very frustrating to work up without power leveling. Although this build has the BEST timers, but this build is made just for that the length of buff timers, and it's also not made for tanking under CW

Build 2: This build is ALSO followed by a lot of RMs, possibly moreso than the first, this build is made for survival though and it sacrafices the time on it's buffs in order to ensure that everyone survives and it's a lot less frustrating than the first, most experienced RMs would probably recommend this build since it also has an easier time surviving a CW hit, and with enough STA it can survive a NORMAL CW Rage hit with a max HeapUp and Patience

Build 3: Although this build is TECHNICALLY a battle build, I'm posting it here since It still has pretty decent buff timers and it's using the RM AoE. As the name states, this build is PURELY for using the RM AoE Merkaba Hanzelrusha. It's not a common choice among players and I haven't seen too many AoE RMs around myself, but if you wanna try something different by all means be my guest, although I do recommend you deviate from the equips if you wanna try this little sucker out, look up an elementing guide or something

(I did not post Battle RM, because I'm not familiar with the build and this is also technically for FS anyway if anyone wants to they can post here, but I'm not adding it to the guide.)

V. How to go about supporting different people.

AoE: Probably one of the most common builds among classes out there... everyone does it at some point and believe it or not AoE does exist past 90. If you're recently-turned RM, chances are you're going to be supporting Knights at Mushpoies. With this build Healing takes priority over ANYTHING even buffing, you will simply not have time to chit-chat unless the guy (or girl) has lots of food. HeapUp, Patience and Quickstep are highly recommended for these guys and BeefUp for added damage and if you're that high Spiriture Fortune. Why Quickstep? Makes gathering mobs quicker :P Oh and Protect is recommended too.

1v1: Most 1v1's at this point are gonna be Jesters, BPs, Blades, and (if they're pre-65) Knights. For these builds they're most likely going to have High-Dex and STR and Moderate to little Sta.
Recommended buffs for these builds is Patience HeapUp Haste BeefUp CannonBall and the other offensive buffs (Spiriture Fortune... etc.)

Crucio: Most Psys take this build from the get-go, supporting them is JUST like being with an AoE (since those glaphs have some nasty crits). Healing is #1 over everything else, buffing is only if they ask for it.. and if they go naked, even more of a reason to buff them.

What do I recommend? When you change jobs your FASTEST leveling period is definitely going to be the first period 60-70, ,more likely than not, you'll be with an AoE or Crucio Psy, since 1v1 at that point is still going pretty slowly (and hey 0.50-1%+ a kill is great) From 70 Onward I recommend 1v1 or AoE, since AoE is still pretty decent in the late 80's and 70 is when you get to enter the mines.. Most Crucio Psys restat at 75+ to AoE or 1v1 since the Glaphs start taking too long to kill them with full-STA. 80+ who you choose to go with is up to you from that point on, although since most people you're going to be with are 1v1 you may not have a choice.

VI. About AoEs.. in the mines

Congrats, you're 70, you must be leveling in the mines now, but now you're confused as to how to get in since most everything is aggro, and you probably need a tank to get in. The reason most RMs GO into the mines is simply because this is the BEST leveling opportunity you will ever get, from 70-80 RMs are the fastest leveling class out there because of this area.

Recommendations:
- Get a tank to get you through the mines, when you hit 70 you will most likely BARELY survive 1 hit from any monster
- STAY OUT OF THE CENTER OF THE PINKY ROOM. This is a mistake a lot of RMs make, and fighters simply don't have time to watch you. If it's an AoE, have THEM bring the mob to YOU, if it's a 1v1 I suggest you stay in the safe area (that semicircular area of train rails or whatever..) and have HIM OR HER come to YOU for rebuffs, but DO NOT stand in the center, aggros pop out of no where.
- STAY BY THE DOOR if you're in the Blue room
- If an aggro happens to come after you I got a suggestion: HAUL ASS. For some reason the aggros in the mines have nasty crits especially on RMs, when you run try to get them stuck behind something so they don't touch you and eventually ignore you.
- Healing an AoE here is JUST like any other, Healing is #1 if you attempt to rebuff while they AoE they will likely die
- DO NOT FOLLOW YOUR FIGHTER, this is a MAJOR no no in the mines, it's just as bad as standing in the center of the room, you never know where an aggro is going to pop up and kill you.

VII. Beyond Level 80

If you're level 80 congrats you *SHOULD* have every skill unlockable to an RM, now you're likely thinking... "Now what to work for?". Well here's some recommendations I can make for ya.

a. If you were one of those lazy RMs and still have a few buffs hanging in a limbo, never to be mastered why don't you MASTER THEM! ^^ or if you were totally lazy and didn't, then this might be a GOOD time to do it.

b. If you have all of your buffs mastered and skills, then why don't you work yourself up to a new set (or buy yourself the 75) for the defense (I'm pretty sure 80 levels of working with a Flury/Wedge will get you tired of seeing the same clothes). Or just level purely for CW, a few levels never hurt.

c. If you're lacking money, try joining with a fighter and go gianting to make some, we ARE one of the poorest classes in-game (T_T), or try to sell those drops you got ages ago and have been sitting in your bank gathering dust.

d. Make a new char and support yourself with it (only works if you have 2 comps or more :P).

e. If you're bold and want to try something new, then level yourself further up and try fighting for yourself, hey, who says RMs can't fight? :P (And I don't mean go battle RM on this one.)

There are more than those I mentioned, probably dozens more, but for now, that's all I got. (If you have anymore I'd like to hear them :P)

And remember: Be proud! Be support!

Just to let you know, you have competition.

Not that that should discourage you, I would be interested for you to share any personal experiences you may of had (good or bad) whilst playing on your RM.

I'm actually doing this to replace that dumb ultimate FS guide that was made not to compete with Flash, both of us have our experiences and our points of view, 2 people do not view the world in the same fashion.

Maybe a Clockworks/Rm section? How to RM using a Full STA Build to be in the main action and a Full INT to be on the outskirts. Or any monsters in Flyff that cause RM's trouble x_x

Nice guide, I don't exactly have anything to point out, I'm pretty much a newcomer to flyff anyway, sort of.

Good guide, Made me wanna make an FS now. It would be cool if you talked about the different kinds of AOERS to support, I've heard elementors need different treatment from knights and such. In fact... I think I will start an FS soon.

I'll try to make an AoE guide, but I'd have to ask my friend 'cause I've never really partied with an AoE Ele so.. any help on that would be appreciated on that.

Also I haven't been adding because I haven't had time, I have mid-terms this week, and I've also been grinding a lot >.> so I'll post as soon as I got some more free time

Although it covers many builds, I must agree with Snake that the tips would only benefit FSes.

Still, it's a nice guide. I might attempt an FS on a second account later, when I'm rich. May I suggest you explain each of the skills? Maybe regular Assist skills too?

And feel free to add my modified AOE build, if you want. Just make sure to say that it needs high level Gore and high level Plugs, since it doesn't have as much as the real AOE RM build. Oh, and in terms of adding stats, its 1:1 Sta/Int until Sta is 80, then all Int. Makes me able to support, if I want to.

Str: 15
Sta: 80
Dex: 15
Int: XXX Everything else, pretty much.
