I see too many guides and stuff that don't help
And want to get a collection of peoples thoughts to make my own blade.
Someone wanna help and start with a Vargrant to Merc to Blade kind of way?
Like what stats should be at certain levels?
(So I guess im lazy?)
This would be very helpful! Thanks.
Stats shouldn't be anything by a certain level. Just give yourself a stat goal (like 40 STA, 66 DEX, rest STR) and raise your stats however you want until you reach that goal.
One thing I suggest is that you start out with a decent amount of DEX.
It depends on a lot of things how you want to build your Merc. For example: Access to half decent buffs, how much money do you have/can you make, can you buy Cash Shop items, etc.. If you're one of the people that can't get those things then your build would definitly be different than someone who can. If I had access to all of those I know I'd probably get no Sta for a while, 'some' Dex, maybe 20ish, and the rest Str for a while. The only thing I had was the ability to buy a few cash shop items to sell to players for money, being able to buy the 30 and 45 set. You don't need the 15 set, it's kind of a waste in my opinion. Even the 30 set isn't that neccessary, you can probably get away without it. The 45 set is a must though, it gives 20% Aspd if you have the full set. Sword of Silver Sword is also a must in my opinion. It gives you 10% hit rate and it SAYS it gives 5% Aspd, but for me it actually gives 10% Aspd. So from those two things you have 30% extra Aspd and 10% more hitrate. If you upgrade your set to +3 (Suit, Helm, Gaunts, Boots) you get another slight bonus, which is better than nothing. So, after reading this sort of meaningless stuff, I'll try to help you out with your build.
First of all, here: http://www.pinoywebcast.com/flyff1.htm It's an Aspd calculator also, but you can use it to help you with your build (like adding Str on there to remember, so you don't have to write it down and see how many points you have left to spend etc..)
((I'll seperate each way of going in different colors, Red (Str build, I'm simpley naming it this because it has more Str then the other). Blue (Dex build, same deal except it has more Dex then the other). Blades will be VERY expensive.. just a heads up.))
Level 15
As Tenko said, it's best to start out with Dex first (in my opinion). After you are done with your job advance and become a Mercenary you should decide which way you want to go. They wont be too different, just two ways to get to the same point. This time I'll do them seperately so I don't have to switch through like 3 windows and keep track of so much stuff. I'll start with the Str one first. If you want to go the Dex way just scroll down past the red text 'til you see blue. Put your points into Dex until you have 38 Dex, you should have 5 points left over. Put them into Str. The Aspd at 37 Dex is 47%, the one at 38 Dex is 51% Aspd, so it's a pretty nice gap.
Your stats should be:
Str - 20
Sta - 15
Dex - 38
Level 20
I'd say add some more Str and some Sta, it will be useful if you happen to get aggro'd on by more then one, or get hit with some crits.
Your stats should be:
Str - 25
Sta - 20
Dex - 38
Level 25
By now you are probably missing quiet a bit and should probably get some more Dex. Put your points into Dex until level 25.
Your stats should be:
Str - 25
Sta - 20
Dex - 48
Level 30
You should be fine with missing, or atleast much better than before. You might need some more Sta and Str, so go 'head and split the 10 points in half. 5 into Sta 5 into Str.
Your stats should be:
Str - 30
Sta - 25
Dex - 48
Level 35
Your survivability should be pretty decent with 25 Sta, so lets get some more Str and Dex. Again split the 10 points in half. 5 in Dex 5 in Str.
Your stats should be:
Str - 35
Sta - 25
Dex - 53
Level 40
You shouldn't have much problem missing at all now, 50~ Dex should be more than enough for accuracy. By level 40 monsters are starting to crit higher, so lets get some Sta and Str. Again, split the points in half, 5 in Sta 5 in Str.
Your stats should be:
Str - 40
Sta - 30
Dex - 53
Level 45
Since your Sta should be fine, and your hit rate should also be fine, go for more Str. Put all your points into Str. IF you can, get the 45 set (Pangrill for males, Stitch for females) and a Sword of Silver Sword (SoSS). They will give you an additional 30% Aspd. The SoSS says it gives 5% Aspd.
Your stats should be:
Str - 50
Sta - 30
Dex - 53
Level 50
Only 10 more levels 'til your job advance. At this point you I'd suggest to just get your Sta to 40 and raise your Str a bit more. Split your 10 points in half, 5 Sta 5 Str.
Your stats should be:
Str - 55
Sta - 35
Dex - 53
Level 55
5 more levels 'til you can become a Blade! Now you need to get to your speed break. Add 5 points into Sta so you don't have to worry about that anymore and 5 points into Dex.
Your stats should be:
Str - 55
Sta - 40
Dex - 58
Level 60
Now you can do your second job advance and become a Blade! You should've been adding your points into Dex ;p At level 59 you should have 66 Dex and 56% Aspd. That's the speed break you want. Simpley put the 2 points you got from level from 59 to 60 into Str. You don't have to worry about Sta or Dex from now on. You should be fine most likely.. Just keep adding Str.
Now for the Dex build. This one will focus on getting to the speed breaks asap, and on getting Sta. This will have low Str since you're going mostly Dex, and because you're going mostly Dex and not killing incredibley fast you will need Sta to survive more. So lets get started shall we?
This should be really straight forward. Pump Dex like crazy in the beggining. Put all your points into Dex after you become a Mercenary.
Your stats should be:
Str - 15
Sta - 15
Dex - 43
Level 20
Keep pumping that dex for a while, put all your points into Dex until level 20.
Your stats should be:
Str - 15
Sta - 15
Dex - 53
Level 25
Okay now put Dex until level 22. Your Aspd will increase by 1%, it's not much, but it's something. It should be at 52% Aspd. Put the rest of your points into Sta, as you probably need it pretty bad.
Your stats should be:
Str - 15
Sta - 22
Dex - 56
Level 30
Lucky you, you can now do the quest to get the Entanale Sword(sp), this will give you a very nice boost in damage, the only downside is that the durability goes down pretty damn fast. Anyways, you should get more Sta and more Str. Split your 10 points in half, 5 Sta 5 Str. Right now your accuracy shouldn't even be an issue at all, just your damage and your Sta.
Your stats should be:
Str - 20
Sta - 27
Dex - 56
Level 35
This is going to sound crazy but add more Dex, you can do whatever you want actually, this is just if you want to get Dex out of the way and start pumping Str and Sta. If not, you can go your own way, this is after all just a backbone to help with your characters progression. The speed break is at 66 Dex, but you don't get it yet. You will get the speed break ALL the way at level 53.. However, if you don't wanna wait that long. You're free to put one more point into Dex to have 67 Dex. Giving you the speed break way before level 53. I'd suggest doing that, but it's entirely up to you. You will need to level up to level 36 to have one more point to get 67 Dex, you can put the extra one into Sta. The below stats are going by the original plan (see where this comes in as a guide? You don't have to follow it, everything is up to you depending on how you want to level etc..), keeping Dex at 66 so you don't waste that 1 point into Dex.
Your stats should be:
Str - 20
Sta - 27
Dex - 66
Level 40
You're almost at level 45 now, which will make your life much easier once you reach it (if you have the 45 set and SoSS). Get some more Sta and Str, split up your 10 points. 5 Sta 5 Str, you can do this which ever way you want while leveling up to level 40, you can either get the 5 Str first or the 5 Sta, which ever you need. This goes for ANY of the levels, which ever you need more (where the points are split) get that first.
Your stats should be:
Str - 25
Sta - 32
Dex - 66
Level 45
If you have the 45 set and SoSS you're probably crying of happiness about now. You will have around 80% Aspd total if you have both the SoSS and the full level 45 set. Get your Str up now.
Your stats should be:
Str - 35
Sta - 32
Dex - 66
Level 50
Only 10 more levels 'til you can become a Blade now! It might get a bit slower leveling if you are leveling by yourself. Split your points so you can get rid of your Sta and focus on leveling up your Dex. Put 8 points into Sta and 2 points into Str. Before you get to level 55, you will finally get your speed break at level 53 with 66 Dex, which will be a nice thing.
Your stats should be:
Str - 37
Sta - 40
Dex - 66
Level 55
You're nearly there! And the only thing you need to do now is keep pumping Str.
Your stats should be:
Str - 47
Sta - 40
Dex - 66
Level 60
You can now become a Blade! Keep putting your points in Str, even after you've become a Blade. You should be fine with 40 Sta and your 66 Dex.
Your stats should be:
Str - 57
Sta - 40
Dex - 66
And you're done.
If you want my opinion on which build to choose, or follow, or use as a guide, I would probably say the first one. Personally I used the second one on every single one of my Mercs and it's been hard every single time (4 times). The fourth time it was easier, since I added more Sta and Str then I did the other 3 times. So yeah.. the first way might be slower (it shouldn't be though..) but it will be better at later levels. The second one is only good in the first 20-30 levels, then it gets harder and you'll have to grind like crazy for those extra 2 points to put into Str or Sta. Like I said before, you don't have to follow these step by step, this is just something to HELP you with your build.
Thanks to Tenko for pointing out a pretty lame mistake on my part >.< I redid the whole guide and split the two builds seperately so it would be easier to organize. I would italicize everything I changed because of Tenko to give him credit for his contribution, but I figure I'd probably italicize everything if I were to do that, since I changed and rewrote the whole thing.
I honestly hope that helped.. atleast a little. I wasn't planning on making a post this.. large.. I was in the middle of training. If there is anything wrong/false in my post please tell me so I can fix it, I will give you credit for pointing it out. Lastly for anyone following this guide, you don't HAVE to do exactly how I did it. You can simpley use this as what it is, a guide. If you want more Str, or Sta, or Dex at a certain point, go for it. It's your character you are free to build it as you wish. This is simpley to help people that have no idea what to do. I think both of these are pretty simple and straight forward/common builds. You shouldn't have too much trouble leveling with them.
Now, there is a slight speed increase at 43 Dex. 42 Dex = 46% Aspd according to the calculator I linked you to, and 43 Dex is 47% Aspd. There is a larger speed increase at 52 Dex. 51 Dex = 47% Aspd and 52 Dex = 51% Aspd. Now since you don't need that extra point for Dex, just put it into Str so it's not wasted.
You seemed to have calculated speed breaks for a Vagrant. These are the Mercenary speed breaks for a sword:
Alright since I'm making this up (not bullshitting it, just writing as I'm going) it's getting a bit confusing.. and this is where it splits between the two. You need to get your Dex to 67 which is the next larger speed break. At 55 Dex your Aspd will be 52%. Now the next larger one is either at 66 Dex or 67.. The calculator I provided stays at 52% Aspd when it's at 66 dex and changes to 56% Aspd when it's at 67 Dex. The one Tenko provided in his guide (the very first Aspd link) also has a big change at 67 Dex. So I dunno why Tenko said 66, maybe just a typo.
Speed breaks require less DEX as you level up, as shown in my list of speed breaks above.
Yeah I realized that after I wrote all of that, I had multiple windows open for each thing, Str, Dex, and just Aspd. I changed it to Merc + Sword towards the end. I calculated all of them at level 45 or something, I figured they would be the same. I'll redo everything that's wrong, it's news to me that speed breaks require less Dex as you level up. Thanks for the input btw ;p
------------------------
And I'm done finally. If anyone finds anything wrong point it out. Also, can any mod edit Brohna's post since that one's a bit inaccurate? Either just remove the quote completely (since it's pretty damn long <-<) or just add the new one in there.

damn, huge props and kudos
that is the best help i've ever gotten :P
i am definently using this guide and am going to follow the guide of dex (Putting all points at level 15 into dex)
I'd post them as images but they're kind of large.

Hold on where the post (it was the fourth one) o_o Either I'm going blind or it's not here. (I blame this on drinking last night.. maybe it's still having its effects.)
----------
Okay so it's not the after effects of drinking xD Other people don't see it either. Guess it got deleted on accident or something..
