Default Ranger Aoe guide

Aoe Ranger guide written and edited by Zeir. 10/18/06

Hello, and Welcome to my guide for Area of Effect Ranger. This guide will
help you with most aspects of Aoe Ranger.

To start off you need a Standard Aoe build. There are three standard Aoe
builds.

The first build is normal Aoe. With this build you should have 80-100 Sta,
rest Dext. This is the build I am currently using and it works great. I usually level on monsters 6-8 Levels ahead of me and I usually take the entire spawn. I would say this build is very good at lower & higher levels.

The second build is what I call "Short" TM Aoeing with about 40-60 Stamina, you can take about 5-9 mobs 6-8 levels higher than yourself with this build. This build is for people that don't really like collecting monsters but still like Aoeing.

The third Aoe build is full stamina; you really shouldn't use this build if you level in crowded places like cranes or have monsters that are spread all over the field, The reasons it will not work is because people like to kill steal, and with the 6th version update, monsters now run away cause they get tired of chasing you long distances. This build would be good for something like the mines. Unless you want to level in the Pk server so you can take every monster possible or make a Ranger for Pk purposes only, I wouldn't do this.

Aoeing

When you're Ranger you get 2 Ranger skills for Aoeing. My theory for Aoeing is always Ice Arrow first, only because it slows down your monsters and their all ready for Fire Arrow. While Fire Arrow is damaging over time, you can and probably should use Rain Arrow for extra Damage over time. Once you get the hang of this its fun. Also at level 70 you get Piercing Arrow, this skill allows you to shoot a single arrow. This skill pretty much attracts mobs in a small area around the mob you hit. This skill helps you collect monsters if their jumbled up.

[NOTE- Rain Arrow is an Acrobat skill you get at level 50]

Do not forget, if you do not have a Rm or Full support you will be hindered greatly as an Aoe ranger. So I urge you to Shout for a full support or
Ringmaster 15 to 19 levels than you before you train. Also make sure you have a Advanced party.

Tips -

Adding intelligence is a waste of Stat points, you can always spam refreshers, and you don't even need to buy expensive ones with 15 intelligence.

Also, Perfect Block and Bow Mastery are skills that highly help your Aoeing also. Master them as fast as possible.

Armors

Once you reached level 60 you do not need the full Green Acrobat set simply because Ranger armor has a good defense rate on its own. It is always helpful to upgrade your sets to +3 or more. Although, I don't suggest more than +3 until level 75+. Only because at lower levels you always get new armor. But at level 75 -105 its best to get the greens sets.
Here are some Screenies of them -

Oska - http://flyffdown.gpotato.com/images/...robat/oska.jpg
Asren - http://flyffdown.gpotato.com/images/...obat/asren.jpg
Tyrent - http://flyffdown.gpotato.com/images/...bat/tyrent.jpg

One of the most important thing for Aoe Rangers to do is element your armor. Elementing your armor is the best thing to do for yourself and your armor because it will help you take less damage from the monster you train on.

Elementing Information.

Weapons-

At Level 60, Guardian Bow is 1 the greatest things you can get for Aoeing as a Ranger at level 60, simply because the effects of the Bow. For example one of the effects is +15% Hp. That already is amazing. As of now my
Guardian Bow is +7 and it works like a charm.

At level 75, using Historic Bow is a great investment. Only because Guardian Bow sells for so much more penya than Historic Bow...at least on lawolf cluster.

The level 90 And 105 Bow is really meant for 1 on 1 killing.

Bows and their effects-

Guardian bow -
Two handed weapon.

if you don't mind i'd like to add another suggestion and a little info, hope it's useful:
it is possible to aoe with a full dex ranger with a few buffs, lvl 10 - 12 buffs should be good, that's what i use. it can be dangerous but perfectly possible, at least a lvl 10 - 12 perfect block is also recommended. you kill quickly and don't get hit often, the most i've done is 5 (by accident) but it works well, especially against mushies which attack slow in the first place and miss a lot. i could aoe mushies with this build from 72.

piercing arrow:
a bugged skill.
first: do not attempt to use on monsters above you on a hill, 95% likely it won't have any effect.
second: if they move to the side for some reason it won't effect them
third: very long range. the actual aoe extends far beyond the point of impact sometiems causing you to ks a nearby aoer by accident or pull more monsters that you don't want.

Good guide.

Have you ever tried a build with low sta ? I have played on xOwL [80 dex - rest sta] and SalmXonis [40 sta - rest dex] .. I'm sorry to say this owl .. but salm kick your ass anytime, and your skills/sel-buffs are WAY better [expect PB =P]

You dont need to have lots of sta to aoe madly with a ranger, with a good PB and crazy dex you should be blocking a lot, and since you aoe you should have a RM to help you in the bad luck moments. I was dealing more damage than knights and taking less damage than them, even with crappy items since he blanked the char before giving it to me.

Oh yeah .. forgot that you can also 1vs1 pretty damn decent with that build.

its also helpful that you suggest which bows and armors would be useful in higher lvls, i will keep that in mind^^

Also, I advise making mention that Rangers work insanely well when paired with another AoE'r, more so than any other class, in fact. With a Knight tanking a mob, spamming stuns and decent damage, a Ranger pumping in DoT's and Ice Arrow's mass Sneaker is godly. You'll kill mobs so fast that even if you're alone in the spawn, you'll be running out of target's quickly, and the chance of the tank dying is almost nulled. That, and if a crit launch takes the tank away and puts the Ranger in his place, then you really still don't have much to fear.
