Default Giant hunting assist-bp - 10-02-2008, 10:25 AM

REGISTER TO REMOVE THIS AD

Dear forum-users,

Probally I'm making one of the thousand giant hunting posts but whatever.
Let's get to the track: I'm planning to make a giant hunt assist/bp, but I don't really know what skills, equips and stats I should really take.

I've got about 150m to spent, and I'm on Lawofl.

Regards,

Vinni.

What Level are you....I suggest at lvl 73-75 with a Yaka+3 and npc lvl 71 set you should do fine since you cant afford Gk or Hk, basically camp the giant Carrierbomb... and maybe kill Mong while waiting for Respawn around lvl 60 kill the giant elderguard since it drops like 7 items or so when your lvl 60-63

Well, as for Gianting, it doesn't become profitable until you're lvl 60, so your main focus should be to get to lvl 60.

As for builds, you're looking at the cookie cutter build which is XXX str, 30~40 sta, 43 dex

Skills-wise until lvl 60:

Heap max, haste max, stonehand lvl 19 (same chance to stun as lvl 20, but uses less mp), Accuracy max, then focus on getting Beef up and cannon maxxed next in that order. don't bother getting patience to lvl 4 and res to lvl 1, you're a 1v1 bp, don't bother wasting your skill points on it until you're lvl 60.

when you get to lvl 60:

max Asmodeus (BP skill), Mental sign max, then decide on whether you want to max Quickstep or get Prevention. Quickstep will be great for grinding, and Prevention's a good safety net to have while gianting.

hope that helps

Yes ok, but it was more a range for how much money I wanted to use.
I can make it 300+. but before 60, no giants?

You want to use your money on your gianting BP?

hmm, interesting, well if that's your question. Save your money until you find a really good Gknuck so you can giant with that until you save enough for a good lvl 75 set (Alext/Ales).

The only thing you'll really need is the Gknuck. Some people use the lvl 60 green set (Shurand/Shuran) to giant, but it's possible with the blue lvl 59 set.

The reason I say don't giant before lvl 60 is as Saarix pointed out, your buffs won't be maxxed and it'll be inefficient for you to try.

Wait until you're lvl 60, there are plenty of giants you can kill. The most lucrative giant is the Elderguard, but lots of people hunt that, so it'll be a dog fight.

if you have the money, I'd suggest getting just a Gknuck +5 and try to save the rest of the money so you can get a good Alext set so you'll be able to giant hunt for Guardian Weapons.

If you have the time, try signing on FlyFF at unusual times, and see as to whether there are more or less people hunting your giant of choice at that time. I've been hanging around the low Lvl60 giants for a while to know that there are certain times when they are camped to no end, and certain times when there's simply no one online to hunt them. This also more or less translates to the amount of giant stealers/drop looters you will come across at different times.

Same thing goes for buying GB/FD parties, if you do that. There's a certain time frame where no one on FlyFF will sell you a GB/FD party. Learning their individual time frames, and working with them, makes the giant hunting work much easier.

Then again, I play on Mushpoie, and we don't have quite the population Lawolf has. You'll probably still be able to find certain patterns according to time of the day though.

One last tip: If you are caught by surprise and you are unlucky enough to come across a giant/drop stealer, don't get too worked up about it. Just remember that it's part of what you have to deal with as a giant hunter, and that they will certainly not be the last ones to attempt it. They are not worth you boiling over.

Okay, so your RM will be healing/buffing all the time while you giant hunt?

then my question to you is this, why use a BP? why not go with a blade to giant hunt if you have an RM to heal/buff yourself?

Blades are by far faster killers than BPs, especially with an RM heal/buff.

If you're going to have your RM, then go with a blade and use the Str based build I'd say. XXX str, 30 sta, 40 dex (although some people say 66 dex). Still get to lvl 60, honestly the giants post lvl 60 are much better to hunt than pre-60. For the blade, you'll want Either Dretras or Guardian swords, Dretras are cheaper than the Guardians swords, and you'll want to use a Recorn/Rescorn set. Should be able to afford the Dretras and a Recorn/Rescorn set with 150mil.

Giants lvl 70 and up drop Guardian Weapons and such.

Any 1v1 BP will do.

But yah if you have a RM, then make a blade.

It's only damn expensive if you want to be godly. Seriously with a XXX Str, 30-40 Sta, 40 Dex build, you'll be just fine with base equips or +3 greens every 15 lvls.

Blades kill super fast, and with an RM, you'll be alive for sure. Getting the Recorn/Rescorn set at +3 will cost you maybe 15 mil, you can get 2 Dretras or 2 Guardian swords, or 2 Taytras or 2 Guardian Axes for cheap. If you really want to save money then get the Taytras as they're definitely the cheapest, plus axes give you a defense boost with the axe itself and the self buff for axes.

But I say again, if you want to giant and you have an RM buffing/healing all the time, Blade is better. Even a Bow Jester would be really good at gianting, but you might have a hard time with the giant being far away when it gets killed
