Default Fire arrow and int - 07-14-2007, 04:09 PM
REGISTER TO REMOVE THIS AD

Since i was bored to death in the game and i got a intel ring +6 i made a test to see if the int really make any difference in the burn damage of the fire arrow, so let's to the test.

Method

I went to a luia and i used fire arrow with 1 arek+6 and no buffs at all and i took pics of the 5 hits that the fire arrow cause, then i equipped the intel+6, and i kept the arek equipped so the only thing that changed was the INT of the char, and i used fire arrow again in the same luia, As Jinxy pointed i will show the results without the arek ring and intel ring to see if dex change the burn damage, the result is the follows:

Results

Damage without Intel Damage with Intel Damage without rings
Average: 605
Average: 618
Average: 606

Conclusion

As you can see w/o the intel the average damage is 605 and with the intel the avarage damage is 618, i did it several times but i took pics only of 1 test and the results were always the same, so doing some maths:
Average extra damage that 7 Int gave: 618 - 605 = 13
Average extra damage for 1 Int: 13 / 7 = 1.86

And as you can see dex don't change the burn damage, only int and level.

So it really proof that 1 int rise around 2 damage in the burn damage of the fire arrow, so add a bit of int as an AoE ranger isn't THAT bad idea since that extra damage will hit every monster in your AoE at the same time, but i don't recommend more than 20~25 int as a ranger.

lol I tested that a long time ago too

In my opinion you are better off adding no int since the dex will add damage to all your attacks as well as it adds to your blocking and evasion rates, which is your main defence.

Did you by chance test how much damage you did without the arek ring?

Don't add any int... just have your assist/RM buff you with Mental Sign. And, there is a spelling error in your signature. Well, not really spelling, but verb tense. Might want to change it before I have to hack your account and change it myself >,...,>

@Jinxy: I'll do it as soon as i log in the game and ill say how much 7 dex add in the burn damage.

@Tia: May you please point my error, since english isn't my first tongue and that sentence is from a music in portuguese, i only adapted the sentence.

Bumping an old thread but...

Excellent find. This should go into the guides section if you could give some more info or something.

Everybody says dex is a ranger's friend but really, its only useful due to it helping so many things, the block alone sucks, i think its about 35 dex for 1% block on my level 80 ranger after doing some calculations, it helps evasion far more than it helps block
