Dunno why I haven't thought of it before...
i hate it aswell, makes me more nervous than what im, if i remember correctly i have seen alot of matches where spain had alot of shots, like it seemed they would win easly, then at the end the enemy's team gets a few shot where they succeed on the goal, probably like what you said about germany-italy in the 06'
As spains game being boring, its just you will never understand as why they make a goal at late gameplay, when they clearly had alot of shots earlier.
also notice how they make alot of short safe passes or change sides when one side is pakced by enemies team, you can tag it as safe play, thats why it seems boring, they hardly lose the ball in these passes, so the enemy at the end gets frustrated and dominated.

Not saying they don't play well or even that their tactics themselves are boring, I'm just saying it's incredibly boring as a viewer when it's always the same-old same-old. You watch the game, nothing freaking happens for 60 minutes, then a sudden goal happens via no OUTSTANDING play, but rather one that looks like it could've been blocked but wasn't. Then nothing happens again for 30 minutes and you think "you gotta be friggin kidding me :U" as an overwhelming feeling of nostalgia overtakes you.
Though yeah, they do play a much slower game than Germany or Portugal for example, which does definitely play a part in a lot of time being eaten up without any major occurances. STILL cannot figure out how it's always a goal in the 60-80 minute mark. I literally went into this game thinking "k if Germany doesn't score in the first half, we're gonna lose," just cause Spain ALWAYS somehow manages a single solitary goal in the 60-80 minute area.
I was thinking that same thing poor torres, he might have a chance in the finals? we will see. but i gotta admit torres not playing from the start seems to work pretty well.
Hey, at least we got to see some wise movement in Spain's rightside offensive with Pedro. In this WC all Torres has been doing is play as a tip waiting for the ball. And when he finally gets it he just tries to rush the defense, fails, grass-dives and whine.
If a forward is not in his best moment you just don't play him.

lol @ u
In a nutshell: Germany has a terrific offensive, BUT Spain has a terrific midfield (Iniesta oh god), so pretty much if you can't get past the midfield, well, you don't have a lot of chances now, do you.
but it was pretty gay how spain played for time in the end. like how casillias threatralically slowly picks up the ball and how del bosque switches player in the last minute.

You seem to think that footballers are playing to entertain a crowd rather than play professionally and that they should forsake ability and skill in-game for crowd entertainment. That's about as true as it is in competitive shooters; it's not true at all. At the end of the day, people pay to see a professionally played game of football, where the team they are supporting give it their all. This is what both sides seemed to do (I watched the last half of the match) and yet you're complaining. The fact of the matter is that you wouldn't even complain if Germany had seized a goal 20 minutes from the end of the game, because it would have been your team winning. It really surprises me how logic completely escapes football discussions where victories or defeats are concerned.
From what I saw, regardless of who I was supporting, Spain played a good game of football and created plenty of opportunities. They had a solid defence, which stopped Germany making many goal opportunities. The thing is, whenever a German player had the ball within reach of the goal, there were 2+ Spaniards marking him and blocking his shots. I can count at least 3-4 times in the last 20 minutes where it was one Spanish player against 1 German defender and the keeper, keeping the pressure constant.
I just find it odd that you can't flat out confess that you lost and it's all fair and everything is in order... you just have to blame something else. I've been in Holland for the past few days and I've had several people (in fact, I think everyone I've met on a personal level) not only talk about how shit England played, but how Holland are "going to win the world cup" in a very "as a matter of fact" manner. And do you know what? They're right, we did play shit. With the exception of things like "offsides that really weren't" and "goals that shouldn't have been disallowed", the proof is in the results who is the better team during that match.
Just face the facts, Germany got beat fair and square and you're having a hard time admitting it so you have to pick apart the way Spain plays which, whilst you might not find it entertaining to watch, is not only a valid tactic, but one that works and applies plenty of pressure to the opposition over the small remaining time in the match. After all, isn't the aim of a football match to win, or am I missing the point?
Oh, and don't mind me, I'm just sat here with my coolface on because idgaf who wins any more. Spain is who I'd prefer to win and I'll be forced to watch the finals because of how religiously Eline's family follows the football, but the actual victor is inconsequential. If Holland win, there'll be celebrations (which means everyone is happy). If Holland lose, there'll be no fucking vuvuzelas and chanting and fireworks. England played shit and I've accepted that fact and never expected them to take home the cup, so whoever takes it probably deserves it if there's no bullshit from the ref.

ah well, every team does that I guess. It ain't even that easy to stay calm when you lead with 1 goal in the 85th minute.

The fuck is this? xD
I said we lost and it was a good game, and I've said before this game that I don't like Spain games. I just said Spain plays slower than most teams and I don't enjoy watching their games, cause it's always tense and then it always ends the EXACT same way. (somehow)
The same way their goal is to win and they'll play however needs be to win, my goal as a viewer is to be entertained and I'll opt out of seeing games with teams I find boring. So yeah, I'm gonna say if a team isn't entertaining for me. Couldn't do that though with the Germany - Spain match and I also caught tidbits of Portugal and Paraguay playing them, and from what I saw, it looked like they were winning. But they both lost despite this and they lost in the exact same fashion, which is annoying as hell. The Germany - Spain game was much nicer because Germany wasn't dominating the field, so there was less disappointment to be had. Both teams messed up passes, both had close shots and it was Spain, not Germany, who was primarily playing the offensive. I also said a couple posts back that I wanted to see Spain face Germany because that's who we lost to in the Eurocup finals. If we can't overcome them, then I don't think we deserve the World Cup championship, and thus I wanted to see this match. We lost, and since there's a team we can't beat, then no, we don't deserve to win.
Dunno what else to say cause I honestly dunno where the hell your post came from. Dunno where on Earth I've made any sort of excuse. I haven't dissed a single call or anything (was one of the few games where the refs got everything right, for once) and I was joking about having a psychic octopus immediately after it happened. Can't help but feel like a bunch of you want to see me butthurt cause of all the jokes I've made about other teams losses here (which btw, joked about my teams' losses too), and to that all I can say is, dude it's a friggin' game. Calm down.
This is hilarious.
Telling other people to calm down when you wall-of-text the shit out of this thread?
It is indeed a friggin' game. Stop telling everyone you aren't taking things seriously when obviously, you are.

You've spent at least this page complaining in several walls of text about "I don't like the way Spain plays". You could have dropped these complaints much sooner, it's really not that big of a deal. If you're not pissed off about the defeat, then why the hell are you exacting your hate for a team's tactics? And that's a genuine question, since your complaints aren't covering any new ground.

Implying I've actually been upset by this world cup beyond the bullshit trolling from the USA after the USA - England match.
