East Asian Movie Reviews

I've had some members asking where I watch most of the movies/dramas I review on here. Yes I do not buy them all.

Here is a list of where I watch (streaming video):
*dramacrazy
*viikii
*mysoju
*dramaclick
*youtube
*asian horror movies (just type it into google, the site will come up)

If I decide to download a movie, I usually go here:
*avistaz

I'll be reviewing 3 movies that caught my eye for one reason or another.

Azumi

Watch the trailer:

Synopsis:

A Ronin and his all male group of trainee assassins adopt a young female orphan named Azumi. After a lengthy period of training, she and the group embark on their mission to rid the land of warring Shoguns. As their mission progresses and their number dwindle, Azumi begins to doubt the motives of her leader who is willing to sacrifice any one of their number in order to meet his single-minded objective.

Review: Plenty of fighting action in this film! It was loads of fun watching a female assassin kick some butt. Azumi doesn't try to act like the men, she just acts like herself and still comes out on top. I really liked the nice flow of this movie, there aren't any dull moments that lull you to sleep. The downside to this film for me was seeing what happens to Oguri Shun. Looking for ninja style action, check this one out. I rate 4/5.

Memory

Watch the trailer:

Synopsis:

One night, a police department receives a call complaining about the screaming from a house. It seems like a sound of a little girl tortured by someone. From there the police investigation starts. The police found Ingorn (Mai Charoenpura), the 30-something land lady, just moving in with her 7 years old daughter, Pear.

The daughter appears to have a mental condition; she has bruises all over her body, which is more likely to be a subject of abusive behavior. In the meantime, Ingorn insists on not letting her daughter have a thorough check-up at the hospital. Yet according to parental law, she has to allow her daughter to see a psychiatrist. This is the first time for Krid (Ananda Everingham) to meet with Ingorn and her daughter, Pear. Krid, at the same time, feel deeply sorry for a little girl as he sees fear and anxiety in her eyes.

Ingorn's mood swing, Pear's strange upbringing and the mysterious fingerprint mark on Pear's arm. All this bothers Krid in so many ways. But what cause this dilemma? Only Krid has an answer for this twisted story.

Review: Okay I'm not going to even try and convince you that this film doesn't put you to sleep over halfway through it. You will feel the dream world calling you to close your eyes but remember to set your alarm to wake up near the very end! That's where you get the twisted ending that'll have you saying, wtf!!! Frankly, I watched this movie cause Ananda Everingham (actor from "Shutter") was in it, he's one of the most entertaining Thai actors I've seen so far in film and he looks really hot! Looking for something that requires a patience that few have but kind of rewards with an interesting ending? Check this one out. I rate 3.5/5. [WARNING: Watch in well lit room to reduce falling right off to sleep.]

X-Cross

Watch the trailer:

Synopsis:

Recovering from a failed love affair Shiyori heads to the country, in the company of best friend and bad girl Aiko. Having taken a long soak in the hot spring they retire to their respective cabins. They soon discover that the tranquil village is the home of a cult with a fetish for cutting off female legs.

Trying to escape they are split up and keep in touch via their mobile phones. Multiple points of view and time frames keeps the viewer on their toes trying to discern the grisly fate of these "lost" girls.

Review: Last but not least, another great and funny horror film from the Japanese! I hadn't had this much fun watching a horror film since "Buppha Rahtree". This is a movie that has horror, humor, and a plain weird old time! This movie was a real thrill ride!. You gotta see the crazed woman duel-wielding two huge scissor blades!!! I rate 4.5/5.

I thought I saw a 3rd one in the making on some site but I don't know if it will really happen. I hope so. If it does come I'll be updating to let everyone know.

Here's one site that talks about Azumi III: http://www.thespinningimage.co.uk/cu...?reviewid=3784
