Default The Official Flyffworld World Cup Thread! - 06-11-2010, 10:16 PM
Hello!

Since there isn't a official thread where we can discuss matches, games, players, and everything else related to the ongoing world cup I decided to make one! Here I'll be updating results and hopefully bring forth some interesting discussions for those who're interested.

I'm doing this because I love Football, and it is the worlds single largest event, and the first World Cup held on African soil.

Group standings:

Group A
Spoiler

Analysis: A pretty clear group with France and Mexico as favorites, but neither has shown any good quality football instead the outsiders Uruguay and South Africa have been playing good. But France still stands as the number one but Uruguay seems to be a strong team with Forlan leading them. South Africa is predicted to come dead last, Uruguay and Mexico will battle it out for 2nd place and France will win the group.

Group B
Spoiler

Analysis: Argentina with Messi and Maradona are the big favorites, Greece have been playing decently and Nigeria has a new experienced Swedish coach who has brought a lot of stability and discipline to the team. It is going to be a struggle between Greece and Nigeria but in the end Nigeria seems like the stronger team. Korea is the weakest team in the group, but could perhaps give Greece a run for their money.

Group C
Spoiler

Analysis: England is one of the favorites to take home the whole World Cup, and therefore are seen as clear favorites in this group. Algeria has a good team and placed second in the African Cup and they probably are stronger then USA, but then again USA has a good team spirit and plays with the american "We'll win mentality", question is can Slovenia stop USA and help Algeria to the second place?

Group D
Spoiler

Analysis: Germany a favorite for this group along with Ghana, but Serbia should not be taken lightly as they won their qualifying group before France and have a lot of international stars like Vidic, and champions league winning Stankovic. They definitely have the potential and the pedigree to take home the group. Australia is the outsider and will probably place last. Keep in mind that Germany has lost their captain Ballack due to a injury and the team is quite young.

Group E
Spoiler

Analysis: Netherlands big, big, favorite in this group. Denmark and Cameroon will battle it out for second place, and Japan who didn't do very well in their qualifiers will have a hard time keeping up.

Group F
Spoiler

Analysis: Italy has a fairly easy group, and they should win it unless the other teams pull of some kind of a miracle. Paraguay is a stronger team then both New Zeeland and Slovakia, but the New Zeelanders had a excellent run trough before the world cup and could possibly compete for second place. Unless Slovakia plays as well as they did in the qualifiers considering the team they have.

Group G
Spoiler

Analysis: The group of death, there are 3 very excellent teams here. Brazil of course being a favorite, but Portugal could very well win. Then there is The Ivory Coast, they have a deadly lineup and could beat Portugal for second place if the pieces don't come together for Portugal. Korea doesn't stand a chance here.

Group H
Spoiler

Analysis: Spain, the number 1 favorite to take home the World Cup has been given a easy group. Honduras shouldn't be able to even nudge at 3rd place, but Chile and Switzerland could have a hard time with each other and the battle for 2nd place will be interesting to follow!
