GP prices rising at the beginning of a new version is nothing new. V12 brought alot of awakening possibilities, so basically reversions are the only reason for which the prices have changed.
Sinner, things like this happened countless times, and it never caused anyone to stop buying GP. Besides, no GP = No game whatsoever.
