For those that hate BJs, they aren't abusing glitches, it's a natural thing that occurs in game that they simply take advantage of which obviously the devs didn't realize it'd be such a big deal. Now, it depends really on preference. Based on survival ability and leveling speed, I would say BJ. BPs though are probably equally able to survive, but can't really reach the same amount of damage because BJs have all those multipliers working for them. BPs also have buffs which can definitely be convenient if your FS goes AFK or if you for some reason need to solo without an FS.
But there's also the issue of just what you like. Some people might like to level fast, but just don't have a fun time with BJs, and some people might have a fun time with BJs and not BPs. Maybe you should try making a Bow Acro and a Battle Assist and see how each interests you at first?
