Your crit rate will be kinda low, but you can fix that a litle bit with statted equips/awakenings/jackalope/etc. Just be prepared for in game ridicule for not being the generic "full dex" ranger or "30 sta rest dex" ranger.

I juggle both types, actually. As of since Lv 85, I've been AoEing a great deal. I think going back and forth keeps things interesting. You get tired of AoEing, go 1v1, you get tired of 1v1, go AoE.
xD Yeah.. your 1v1 ranger-ness is crazy.. xD in a good way :3 .. I probably should have equipped +DEX rings when I was 1v1ing =.=;

Ah no.. that was me being delirious and brain dead from writing so much.. thanks for the catch.

example: a lvl 106 knight with 1.6k def receives around 200 damage from a mammoth. blocked damage is the same. even with 2k def its still 200 damage. however, once he levels up to 107, the damage decreases to 150. (dont nail me down on the numbers, its been a while that i aoe'ed without element at mammoths)

HOWEVER: opposing element decreases that minimum damage (roughly cuts it by half with a +3 elemented suit)

having said that all...
the point is, same element *does* help, but in the in the levels when you begin to level at a mob, for example lvl 90-92 at kerns, you better use an opposing elemented suit, since blocked damage still is pretty high. opposing element also saves you from high crits. people who are finished with muffrins and have to face popcranks (no element) sure experience that. popcranks hit hard without elemental protection.

now once you have leveled a few levels at that mob and feel comfortable leveling there now, not taking too much damage and not having too many near-death experiences anymore, then you can consider changing to same elemented suit.
You make very good points that I didn't think about..~ o: .. So, are you saying that reduced damage from a mob is more desirable than the 0's? I personally really liked those 0's x3 .. .. .. but I've never used a stronger element before to testify which is better. I'll take your experienced word for it ^-^

Thanks :3 .. I'll add that in.. wasn't sure about the +water-ness regarding fire arrow's DoT. As for the fire element and other skill damages, if you check out the link, power2 tested a +fire elemented bow and found like, a +30 damage increase for ice arrow, arrow rain, and piercing arrow. Not a significant increase, but an increase nonetheless o: .. I was also under the impression fire element doesn't increase other skill damage until I saw the screenies to prove it, which is why I linked it there :3
